Help me give my students an additional Chromebook for our classroom set so that learning gaps can be addressed during small group instruction and so that higher learners can remain actively engaged.
I teach math in a second grade public school classroom in rural Arkansas. My co-teachers and I share 53 students. Coming from a rural area provides a strong sense of community where teachers know most of the children and families. We see most parents several times a week in town, at church, or at events throughout the community. Many of the children have been in classes together since preschool, creating a sense of family and loyalty. They support each other and provide each other with stability that they might not otherwise receive.
Inquisitive, enthusiastic, and ambitious are attributes that my students possess that allow them to overcome many of life's challenges.
They are excited when it comes to technology and, as children of this century, they need to have access to different types of technology in order to compete with the future workforce of their generation.
My Project
I have chosen to request an additional Chromebook for my classroom because my ultimate goal is to have one Chromebook per student. My students currently have access to nine computers, but I have eighteen students. The additional access to educational resources that my students have gained this year due to an increase in technology has had an astronomical effect in my students' learning.
Technology is used for every aspect of testing, career advancement, and everyday life tasks, but my students have yet to receive the full resources that they need in order to succeed to their maximum potential.
Every past donation that I have received for my classroom has been appreciated beyond words, and any future donation would be equally appreciated and beneficial to my students and our classroom.
