Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are wonderful children who are going through tough times. They have been hard hit because of the Covid-19 virus. Our school is located two blocks from the epicenter in NYC.
My students are suffering emotionally due to the circumstances around them which they do not understand.
The children in my class are from very low-income families and many have lost their jobs and are struggling. The parents try their best to give their children everything they can, but only are able to give them the basics. Due to the virus, many families have suffered great losses.
Much of our learning this year will be back in the classroom. Therefore, I would like to have the tools to help the children succeed. This project means so much to my children and is very valuable.
My Project
Many of the children and my class to not have the means to buy their own computers, laptops, or iPads. This laptop will allow them to practice in school with my guidance. It is so important for the children to become tech savvy and the only way this will happen is if we do it together in school. The children are very eager and willing to learn but need direction in guidance. This device will help them get on par with the other children their age even though they don’t have the money to buy their own laptops.
