Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am the Computer Lab Facilitator, providing resource to all students in the school from Pre-k to 5th Grade. We are a Title One School with very limited funding, but we work above and beyond each year in spite of minimal funds. We want to assure each child has the the best experience using technology. We want each child to work using headphones without any distractions. Headphones are needed as each child must work independently on various assigned lessons on websites as identified and directed by teachers. This will allow students not to be distracted as they work. Our intermediate students in grades 3 to 5 so look forward to coming to the lab and working independently on assigned skills. The students take pride in showing how well they can sign in on their own using their own personal user name and password. Students especially enjoy teaming with a partner on special assignments and projects. I take personal pride, watching the students work and support one another.

My Project

My students will be thrilled to have enough working headphones to complete and partner with classmates on assignments and projects. Students will have assignments to complete on various educational websites for math and literacy. The splitters will allow students to partner and share in their research and assignments without distracting others as they work as a team. They love to challenging one another to see who will get the highest scores on teacher assignments and moving to the next levels. It warms my heart to see them excited about learning using technology. We are preparing our student to be future teachers and leaders in the 21 Century. They will be ready take on any task using technology in the future. Our students will also know how to work as a team which is very important when they have assigned team projects.
