This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students love technology and the students at my school are no exception.
They are inquisitive souls who are learning how to integrate what they are learning with the pace of technology in today's modern world.
Until recently, our students were receiving technology education that prepared them for the 21st century. This past school year, that was not the case. Due to no fault of their own, they were not able to receive technology education this past school year. This upcoming school year they will have the chance to receive technology education in two labs and are very excited!
My Project
This year, our students have the opportunity to receive technology education in two different labs. This is the first time in our schools' history that we have had an opportunity like this. Over the course of the year, our K-8 student body will not only learn how to navigate between two different computer platforms, but they will learn Internet Safety & Digital Citizenship, Information Literacy, Applications and Tools and Digital Media.
We have a unique opportunity this year to have students learn to code, learn to complete adequate research, and work with robots.
This project requires a few things for the success of our digital literacy education. We are asking for a printer for each lab, and an ink cartridge to start the year. Our students have not had access to printers, and have been handwriting reports and essays. This will give them access to printing their work as well as research that they have completed.
We are also asking for headphone adapters. We have many sturdy headphones in our building that we want to use. We currently cannot use them because the headphone jack is too big. With these adapters, we can use what we already have in our building instead of letting them go to waste.
