Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from various cultural backgrounds: Africa, Iran, Afghanistan, India, China... and these are just a few. We are in a community school and funding right now is very tight. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful.
Our goal this year is to advance our learning using technology so that students can be creative within their teams and explore exciting and innovative ways to further their learning.
Children are our future. Why not give them an awesome start this year with technology!
My Project
As Anna Sabramowicz said, “Learners in the internet age don’t need more information. They need to know how to efficiently use the massive amount of information available at their fingertips – to determine what’s credible, what’s relevant, and when its useful to reference.” This quote resonates with the students and I because it gives the students the power to learn in ways that would not be possible or practical without technology. By using a Chromebook in the field of STEM, the students will be able to actively pursue their learning with enthusiasm. I encourage all of my students to explore and integrate different academic websites for the next generation that will allow them to work at their own academic pace and like Dr. Seuss said, "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose." So, from all of us to all of you who choose to donate a Chromebook or two, we want to thank you! This Chromebook will allow for me to foster the love of learning in the field of STEAM as they become young explorers. Students can become engineers as they design and build projects.
