My school is a Title I school in Washington, D.C. I am a fourth-grade teacher at an elementary school in a large urban community. My students are a diverse group of 70 children whose special needs range from autism, ADHD, emotionally disturbed, to English language learners.
My students love to move, explore, and learn!
Most of my students come from a low-income community and lack many resources. However, they are full of energy and curiosity. They are extremely active scholars who benefit from classroom technology, flexible seating, and colorful interesting reading magazines.
My Project
This laptop will be used to engage three learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The design quality of this laptop provides students with manageable size and touch screen operation, making it a tool that students learn to use quickly and easily. It will aid reading intervention programs as it can reinforce literacy experiences with sound-symbol connections and recognition. This laptop will help my students to reinforce what they have learned both in reading and math.
My students will use it to work on their reading fluency skills, comprehension, math, writing, and typing skills.
They will also use it for learning about science and social studies. Moreover, my students will use this laptop with the SmartBoard playing interactive learning games. My students will be more excited, active, and engaged in their learning. The new laptop will allow this learning to happen.
My students already enjoy using technology and having technology that works would be very exciting and beneficial to them! This laptop is extremely needed in my classroom. Your generous donations will help make learning meaningful for all my students. You will help bring great resource to awesome students!
