My students need an iPad to help close our gap of having a 1:1 tech ratio. With so many engaging lessons available for our students, having the technology to support them is critical.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every year I decorate my classroom like I would my home, not only because there are days where it feels like I live there, but for my kids. I enjoy having have an inviting space for students to come and feel safe. With over 91% of them coming from below poverty level, most of them have faced more hardships in 11-13 years, than I have in my life.
I often refer to my students as my kids because they are like family.
Daily, I share their happiness, their sadness, their successes, and their struggles. I try my best to make sure their needs are met. A snack here, an extra uniform shirt there. Whether it is a joke, or a positive note of encouragement, I make sure to brighten their day even if it's just a little.
I look forward to seeing them in my classroom each day, and they make my job less like work, and more like a place to learn and have fun doing it. I am a very fortunate person to have a profession where I look forward to going to work every day!
My Project
With technology being so a crucial factor in our lives, having access to it is becoming more and more important.My students look forward to lab days, but being the highest grade at a PK-7th academy can sometimes take screen time away from my students. Mobile lab carts are great, but the computers are outdated and typically unreliable.
Teaching teens with the usual pen and paper method is great, but being able to really engage students with lessons like Nearpod, and Discovery Ed, makes those lessons come alive.
My students would love to be able to have a set of iPads to take their learning to the next level! Unfortunately, school budget issues, and less than adequate funding has led to cutback at the technology level.
You can make a difference in my students' lives. This iPad will be the stepping stone from a teacher led lesson, to a rich, engaging student led lesson.
