This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a bright, focused group of learners. We are a tight-knit school who consider each other family. The families of this community are mostly low-income and we are 90% free/reduced lunch.

Over 50% of our students speak English as a second language.

We pride ourselves on our ELA RTI program (reading intervention), in which we received the Gold Ribbon Award from The California Department of Education this past year. Our school has been developing more technology-rich classrooms to aide in bringing our students into the 21st century.

My Project

This iPad will be used in all areas of my classroom from centers, to small groups.

It will be used to bring subject areas to life as well as make it interactive.

Our students already have Google education accounts and they will be able to use interactive programs on Google Classroom. We are working towards a small group set so that during intervention/small group time, students will be able to share the iPads for researching and learning. With this iPad, students will be entering into the 21st Century and gaining skills that will bring them success in different fields. Technology is an engagement feature that we should not have to give up just because we are low-income.
