This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic about their learning in first grade. These children are mostly from low-income families and don't always have access to technology at home. They are fascinated by technology. Unfortunately, many of our students were impacted quite severely by Hurricane Harvey this past school year. As my school moves into a technology campus, it would help to have technology available to use. The students require more interactive activities to keep them engaged in their learning and take responsibility and ownership of their learning.
My Project
I am attempting to get my classroom to 1:1 with technology. With the 5 tablets, I will be closer to accomplishing this goal. The laptop will serve as a student computer for the students to use to complete research and other assignments. I plan to incorporate a lot of technology into my classroom this year, but currently lack all of the tools I would need to accomplish this, such as 1:1 for technology. My students will use the tablets as math manipulatives, centers, publishing centers, and assessment centers. They will also use the tablets to create digital learning portfolios on Seesaw.
