Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are eager to learn and grow and work collaboratively to build a community.
My students attend a high poverty school in which all of the students qualify for free lunch.
My students are eager learners despite some of the difficult challenges they face on a daily basis. Most of my students are fascinated by the world of science and love to explore and watch as things grow, change, adapt, and evolve.
One of our students' favorite parts of the day is our Morning Meeting time where we spend time together building community and learning how to get along, work together, and become family at school.
My Project
My students need an IPad to learn about both two dimensional and three dimensional shapes. My students will create project models using this Ipad, and will then turn their models into real projects using shape block and other materials.
Because so many of my students come from low income homes, this Ipad will be a great opportunity to learn about shapes while incorporating technology into the the lives of my students.
Giving my students this chance to create models of their work prior to creating the actual project helps them understand what designs will work/not work for their project before they actually start to build.
