If you walked into my 2nd Grade Classroom, you would hopefully see students engaged in many different activities that challenge their reading and math skills. At the end of the school year, I hope my students will have the academic and social skills needed to succeed in 3rd grade.
Our school has a diverse student body comprised of 43.6% African American students, 17.2% Asian students, 12.7% Hispanic students, 23.2% White students and 3.2% Multi-Race, Non-Hispanic students.
Additionally, 53.8% of our students are considered low income, 15.3% of our students are identified as having special needs and 10.8% of our students are English Language Learners.
My Project
These laptops and the iPad will help students be engaged in their learning. Having five laptops and an iPad will help our students become more proficient with 21st century technology. My goal is to provide access to technology for each student in my 2nd grade class. Currently, students need to have practice typing and using learning applications in order to complete assignments. Many of my students do not have this type of technology at home, so they have the opportunity to use this during the day and at Homework Club in the afternoons. My hope is students will enjoy using this technology so much that they will come to more Homework Club afternoons. I hope to also implement Tech Buddies with a Fifth Grade Class in the 2018-2019 School Year using this technology.
