Help me give my students technology to work like REAL scientists. This includes a Belkin charging station, a Chromebook, speaker system, and console license.
I serve an amazing group of students from a wide spectrum of backgrounds and ability levels. From freshmen with low-income households to seniors from affluence, I'm trying to bring them all a love for science. One thing my students all have in common is the loss from Hurricane Michael. Most were not in evacuation zones and were home as trees and wind destroyed most of the world they knew. They lost homes, cars, personal belongings, their school, friends who had to move, sports seasons and performances were canceled. Parents lost jobs, security, and transportation. They lost five weeks of school, and we are desperately trying to catch up, in a new school, on a modified schedule, in a whole new reality.
My Project
In Hurricane Michael, our school's media center and all of our technology classrooms were destroyed. While our school does have laptop and Chromebook carts available, they will now be used for those technology classrooms as labs, instead of to bring technology into the content area classes. I want my students to be able to collaborate like REAL scientists! They will use this Chromebook to compare data from laboratory investigations (even between class periods), they will create presentations, do research, and even engage in digital interactive simulations for learning. This Chromebooks can create a link for these digital natives to bring the learning to a higher level.
We also need a speaker system, a charging station, and console license for the Chromebook.
