This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have been part of the founding class of our charter school in South Memphis. As 5th graders and the top of the school this coming school year, I want to give them a fresh and new way to engage the world and express themselves.
They are funny and hard-working, committed to their success, love reading, and want to discover new pathways to the future of their dreams.
They love teaching each other and learning together. Together they are a powerful force of leaders for our school community.
My Project
Students will already have access to their own Chromebook laptops for their learning, discovery, and creation of projects. Our classroom is getting a Chromecast, so that students can screen-mirror their learning and work products. We are very excited about that. To push the level of learning and my level of teaching, students will benefit from me being able to teach by using the Samsung Android tablet which will screen-mirror for the whole class to see my teacher modeling, websites for research, collaborations with students, and endless other opportunities.
My 5th graders also need an abundance of BOOKS on their various reading levels which will be of high interest to them to continue to foster a value of reading.
I was very intentional with my scholars in mind in selecting books to go into our classroom library.
