Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
They like to move, they love to draw and love being able to express themselves in their own way.
Many of them are being raised in low-income households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical.” From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Tech 2.0 will help my students to further expand their learning by being able to use technology to do further research on topics we are studying. All students will be able to use the devices during our Project Based Learning lessons as well as during Language Arts and English Language Development lessons.
These computers will allow my students to be at a one to one student to computer ratio.
This project will improve their school lives by making learning more engaging as well as by making activities and lessons more memorable to them. Students will be able to have a locking computer cart in the classroom and places to store their materials for projects with the storage cart. Having a flash drive for each student will allow for easy printing of projects and reports when needed. Students will be able to use technology to save their work from fourth grade and be able to look back on it as they grow older.
