Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 4th graders in a high achieving magnet school in Las Vegas. They are hardworking but do not always have the supplies they need. Many of them come from low income backgrounds, but they strive to be successful. They are fun-loving and respectful and appreciative of any opportunities or supplies they are given. I am proud of them and the people they become. They love art and engineering, so I try to include that in my day as much as possible.

The students at my school are the most considerate, hard workers I have ever met.

They want to learn and take every opportunity life has to offer them.

My Project

My students love using technology and are extremely frustrated because their current iPads are old and do not meet their needs. They need updated tools to keep up with the changes in technology. I would like to get them Chromebooks so they can use the Google Tools they know so well on a device that allows them to do so. They want to make Google Slides to show their learning, but they cannot create all the functions of them on an iPad. I know I will have to start small to get the Chromebooks, but even having two in my classroom will make a difference.
