My students come from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds, yet they come to school with excitement and eagerness to learn and grow. In our grade level, our students rotate for math, ELA, and sciences, therefore I will see each and every 4th grade student in our school.
Growth mindset and the whole child are two major focuses in our classroom.
I want to provide my 21st century learners the environment, materials, and opportunities that they need to be engaged and successful. Together we help prepare ourselves and each other for today and tomorrow, with both academic and emotional goals.
My Project
This school year there is construction on our school basketball court which resulted in my students being limited to a big open field to play on during recess but no equipment to utilize. Unfortunately this leads to misbehavior as students try to entertain themselves. With this sports equipment students will be able to engage in team building sports games such as flag football, outdoor volleyball, soccer, and tetherball.
When students participate in team sports they develop many life long skills such as: teamwork, leadership, camaraderie, cooperation, respect, and a sense of belonging.
I hope to support my students' both academic and social emotional growth this year in 5th grade!
