My students need to increase their dramatic play to help their social interactions. Also the magnet tiles, the Lego bricks, and the marble run encourage team work and problem solving.
My students are quirky. They like to pretend to be cats and dogs. Although economically disadvantaged they have so much to offer. They all live below the poverty guide lines. Some are being raised by grandparents because their parents are on drugs. Some live in a rural area, some live out on farms. They all need to be interacted with more. That is why I thought a new dress up area would help meet the needs of our class children.
My Project
This will increase my students desire to play in the dramatic play area. All of my students need more opportunities to socialize. With the new dress up storage and the children will have opportunities to dress up like different community workers. Many students are having difficulty with their language development because technology and parenting have changed. The Legos marble run and magnetic building tiles will give the children a chance to interact more with each other in a positive environment. When building together with the simple machine Lego set the children have to talk about their plans. This helps them to organize their thoughts and self regulate. Both are skills needed for success later in life. Children that can cooperate become better problem solvers. Kids today will have jobs that have not even been created yet. Technology grows so fast. By teaching the kids now to be adaptable and how to find their own solutions you are teaching them to think for themselves. The marble run and magnetic blocks give them lots of opportunities to figure out how things work. You can help!
