Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our small, neighborhood school serves predominantly Hispanic students where 70% are low-income and 60% are English language learners. School funding has been slashed due to budget cuts and my third graders are in need of supplies and materials that will support their learning.
My 3rd grade classroom runs on hard work, honesty, love, and resilience.
I am inspired by their love for learning and their support for one another. They work incredibly hard despite the limited resources at home and in school. They are in need of supplementary tools that will further provide hands-on learning and team-building activities.
My Project
My third grade class is made up of diverse, energetic group of students. We do not have an indoor gym, nor do we have enough supplies for outdoor activities. Unfortunately, my students live in urban areas where outdoor play is restricted. They love being outdoors and look forward to PE every morning.
A successful classroom runs on community and team building.
Playing outdoors is just as important as learning in the classroom. My students thrive on structured activities where they are able to be active and work with others. The outdoor equipment listed in my project will help give my students a much needed outlet to exert their energy, build a healthy lifestyle, and, most importantly, provide opportunities for positive collaboration.
