One of my students told me that her motto was, "No read, no read, no read!" I have to change that thinking. Most of my students are behind in their reading, and this is why. They need to read more, and I need more interesting books.
My students are from a small rural school where the basketball gym is the center of local activities.
Many of my students are below grade level in their reading, and I have to do something about it. I have chosen books that will engage even the most stubborn of students.
My Project
These books, book sets, and other materials will be used in class during guided instruction and during silent reading. I chose many non-fiction titles to help their understanding of other content areas. I hope this will accomplish two goals at one time. Many of my students struggle reading non-fiction and they need more practice.
This project will make a huge difference in the motto, "No read, no read, no read!" This project will get the non-readers to begin reading books that are very interesting and about subjects that they are familiar with.
