Help me give my students a quality education, by providing Microsoft - Surface Book Laptop computer in order to effectively teach my ELL students and to prepare lesson plans that both challenge and stimulate our students'.
I am an English Language Learner (ELL) teacher at an inner-city high school. My students are from all over the world and speak a variety of different languages. We have a large population of Hispanic students who speak Spanish and it is my job to help them to learn English in order to be academically successful.
Typically, students come to me having just arrived in Connecticut from their native countries.
At first, the students are shy and afraid to speak since most have little to no fluency in English. But once they get to know me and their ELL classmates, they are willing to try to learn English. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for non-English speaking students to arrive in an unfamiliar city, start at a new school, and not be able to communicate with others because of language barriers. It must be terribly frustrating for them. The majority of our ELL students are anxious to learn English and really appreciate the help towards accomplishing that goal.
My Project
The addition of a laptop computer will provide me with the tool I need to prepare effective, engaging lesson plans, as well as using the computer for online teaching demonstrations and instructions for ELL students learning English.
I teach ELL stand-alone classes and also "push" into other teachers classrooms to assist ELL students to understand the content being taught.
It is essential that I have access to a reliable portable computer that I can use to translate content material and to explain what the teacher is asking for students to accomplish as part of the daily learning targets.
