My students need access to Chromebooks to access technology in the classroom environment on a daily basis.

I am a first-year teacher with the Buffalo Public Schools where I have been given the opportunity to teach a class of twenty-two energetic and enthusiastic First Graders from the inner city. Most of the students in my classroom come from low-income households that unfortunately face adversity on a daily basis. I, however, intend to guide my students on the path of hard work, determination, and success. I will do this by giving them every opportunity that I can to allow them to feel safe and secure while gaining the skills necessary for them to become lifelong learners and successful talented members of our city's promising future.
My students come from home environments where technology is not readily available to them. I would like the Chromebooks to allow technology to be readily available to my students while here at school. Technology has become a huge part of our daily learning routine however, we need additional devices to make it fluid for all students.
With the use of the Chromebooks, my students will have access to additional direct instruction lessons that are developed at their specific level.
With these devices, my students will have the opportunity to access lessons where they are able to work on reading, writing, math, science and social studies lessons at their personalized level focusing on their needs and strengths.
The students will have uninterrupted access to websites where they will be able to read and be read too, something that they may not get at home. We will be able to use the Chromebooks to extend learning from our daily lessons, researching topics discussed within the lesson or investigating questions posed during a particular lesson. Students will also be given the opportunity to utilize Google Classroom, where real-time lessons are recorded so that they can go back and access them for support later in the school day.
Our school right now does not have the technology available to give access to all students daily. With the use of the Chromebooks in my classroom, I will have the opportunity to give my students access to a wealth of information at their fingertips.
