This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from diverse backgrounds and many don't have the materials needed to aid in their learning. Despite the many obstacles they face everyday, they show up to school eager to learn. Many of my students come from less than ideal home situations. Many of my students are considered low income and yet they still manage to have a positive outlook about school. I feel like my classroom gives them a happy, safe place. That is something they lack in their everyday lives.
My Project
With an Apple iPad mini in the hands of my students, the possibilities are endless! My students will be able to read books online and listen to books online, which will help their fluency tremendously. They will also be able to practice Math concepts and strategies by adding the fun, digital component to math with games, adventures, and test prep. The iPad will also be used for research and projects. My students will be able to make videos, record readings, and present information to the class. We will also use the iPad to take Accelerated Reader tests to measure our knowledge of a previously read book!
An Apple iPad will open many doors for my students.
Technology is so important in today's world, and so many of my students are denied this due to environmental situations that the school cannot control. Providing technology in my classroom will be HUGE for these students. I hope to open the door to the world for these kids and show them that they can achieve anything they put their minds to!!
