My students need laptops for their media class and the AP US History class. Computers will be used on a daily basis for media class and for special projects and research in the APUSH class.

My Students

Our school has a total student population of about 325 students. We serve the 2 nearby pueblos of Laguna and Acoma as well as the two Spanish land grants. Approximately 96% of our student population is Native American. We are a rural school located approximately half way between Albuquerque and Grants, NM. Another challenge that our school faces is the low socioeconomic status of 60% of our families. 100% of our students qualify for free lunch, which allows all of our students to receive free breakfast and lunch everyday.

My Project

Our school has aging equipment. The 7 computers in the classroom are now outdated and half no longer work. For students to complete assignments for yearbook production and special projects in the APUSH class we need to have current technology. The laptops selected in this project will help significantly.

Computers in learning are a must in classroom these days.

Without these laptops it makes it more difficult to complete assigned curriculum. We currently share 30 computers, 6 which are now down, with dual enrollment online course students and any classes that also need the computer lab.

These computers will make a huge difference in my classes.
