Mrs. Wirshup from Philadelphia PA is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an interactive whiteboard and stand so that they can read, engage and annotate the texts we read together as well as get hands on experience with primary sources and writing instruction.

My students are bright eyed and eager students from an awesome community in Northwest Philadelphia! Everyday my students arrive ready and willing to think and discuss our texts and the challenging themes they present. This year, we will focus on issues of social justice, discrimination, life as an adolescent and how to relate with others. We hope to to explore the world, each other, and our hopes and dreams through our year together but need some help gathering the materials that could help us! Our school has an amazing team and a lovely outdoor garden but hasn’t yet been brought into the twenty- first century with updated technology.
American philosopher and educational reformer, John Dewey, once said “If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's, we rob them of tomorrow.” As technology continues to advance, so must the way we think as learners and teach as educators.
With an Interactive Whiteboard our classroom can be transformed into one of endless hands-on, engaging learning possibilities!
This technology can change the way teachers teach and students learn. It allows students to annotate on virtual texts and documents, play interactive learning games, engage with primary sources, and participate in writing activities by writing or clicking directly on the digital screen. Our middle school students thrive when participating in activities that allow them to be active participants and give them meaningful and hands-on experiences. An Interactive whiteboard will be an amazing tool to allow us to work together with engaging and interactive literacy lessons.
