We are small-town kiddos with big dreams and even bigger potential! My students and I have always been on some kind of journey. With a classroom full of thinkers and encouragers, we are excited to embark on something new and challenging together.
These are the kids that make you fall in love with learning.
These are the kids who soak up every word off a page and question deeply the world around us. These are the kids who continuously challenge themselves to grow into leaders and learners with "just keep swimming" as their mantra. Thankfully, they allow me to join them on their incredible journey.
We will spend most of the year discovering the depths of ourselves, our learning, and our world. While we don't have a magic school bus to take us deep into the ocean blue, we have books, technology, and some big imaginations that can take us further than the walls of this little Kentucky classroom.
My Project
No two students are identical and neither are their learning needs. With that comes a heavy responsibility of meeting students where they are and steering them in the direction of future success. Limited resources and the sheer magnitude of students' needs can often make differentiation a daunting task in the classroom. Regardless of the challenges, a highly individualized learning environment is what our students deserve each and every day. With these Chromebooks, I will be able to use educational programs such as Google Apps for Education, Lexia, Dreambox, Reatheory, IXL, Razkids, Zearn, Prodigy, and more, to give my students individualized learning experiences. These programs will meet them at their level, challenge students who are going strong, and supplement students who need extra support. Even more importantly, the reports from these programs allow me to go in and tailor my lessons around the needs pinpointed by these programs.
All students are different, and the learning experiences we cultivate must be reflective of that.
Technology allows me to prepare, analyze, and support a student's individualized growth through online programs, individualized assignments, and adjustable levels. Just as an artist uses their understanding of color and technique to create their most beautiful pieces, educators must use their knowledge of students and practices to create the perfect combination of support, challenge, and engagement. Technology streamlines this process, making differentiation the norm for students and realistic, daily practice for educators.
