My class is full of energetic students who are ready to learn. They're excited to come to school each day to see what we are going to discover. They love to dig right in and be hands-on.
I teach a class of 22 sixth graders who come from all different walks of life.
The majority of my students come from low income families. I have students who come from single parent homes as well as homes with two parents. I have students with ADD, ADHD and learning disabilities as well as students who speak multiple languages.
My Project
I think we can all agree that the future of our country depends on our students and their ability to problem solve and use technology. My students are in need of computer mice, mousepads and headphones to make it easier for them to work with technology.
Imagine walking into a classroom where everyone is working on a math program that requires sound.
It is loud, confusing and makes it a difficult environment for students to learn. I'm hoping that through this grant my students will be able to get headphones to make it easier to hear their work and have mice and mousepads to facilitate an excellent learning environment.
Lastly, I believe that students are highly motivated when they receive praise and recognition for their efforts. One way to achieve this is taking pictures of students hard at work and printing their work, showcasing their masterpieces. By having a photo printer in the classroom, I can post these photos highlighting student work to further encourage their learning.
