The year is 2012. The stakes are higher than ever. Math is everywhere, but are our struggling learners fully engaged? No, not yet. How can we actively engage our most tangled learners to help them reach their full potential? The answer I have finally arrived at is access to current technology.

I am the Math Interventionist at an elementary school in Maine. Our school is located in a rural community in Northern Maine that is classified as a low-socioeconomic area. We have approximately 200 Kindergarten-Sixth Grade students enrolled in our school, and a high percentage of these students require early math and literacy intervention. The vast majority of our students are extremely hard-working, energetic, compassionate, and optimistic individuals! I feel like one of the luckiest ladies alive to have the privilege of delivering math interventions to students in all grade levels!
My Project
The Toshiba-Excite 10 tablet has a countless number of mathematics applications specifically designed for interventions targeted in mathematics. With your help, the Toshiba-Excite 10 would be in several children's hands throughout the day, with learners engaged in a wide variety of mathematics applications. Our struggling learners will be excited and engaged during interventions in mathematics, and will be much less likely to require mathematics intervention later on. Please help our students compete in a mathematically advancing world by putting a Toshiba-Excite 10 tablet in their hands! Thank you!
