Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My wonderful students each have their own special, fun personalities that light up the room. I enjoy building their confidence in learning activities that are of interest to them personally.
In my classroom we focus on all of our abilities not the disabilities that others may see.
It is very important to us as a classroom to show others everything we can do!
We want to embrace all of our diverse cultures and families. We are a family inside the classroom and it is a safe, loving environment to learn in. Most students in my classroom are nonverbal but communicate through pictures, sounds, and actions. I also have students who are visually impaired.
My Project
The Microsoft Surface Pro, docking station, and Surface pen would allow me to teach my special needs students in a variety of ways. I could interact with them throughout the classroom, without being stuck to a cord. It is important for my students to be able to interact with the lessons because most of them are nonverbal and would benefit from showing me what they are learning. A wireless tablet and pen would give my students the opportunity to practice their writing skills and show their peers how they are doing right then and there. The tablet would give me the opportunity to expose students in wheelchairs to the lessons without being so far from the board.
