Teaching Tolerance Through Choice!
My students need the ability to make their own seating choice.
Where do you get your best thinking done at home? I know I myself find comfort in my comfortable couch surrounded by my favorite stools. Perhaps you get your best work done sitting on a stool in your kitchen island. My kindergartners deserve to be able to choose where they do their best work/thinking.
I teach a diverse group of students from all backgrounds and cultures.
They each are unique and have different learning styles and personalities. I feel creating a space that welcomes diversity and teaches tolerance will make our classroom environment that much better.
My students are decision makers! Through flexible seating, my students will have the ability to make an informed choice best suited to their individual personalities and needs. Wobble chairs will provide more choices for flexible seating.
Through flexible seating (wobble chairs), my students will learn tolerance while being decision makers!
Some students may learn and work better by sitting at a traditional desk while others may prefer a wobble chair or to work on the floor. I believe providing students with choices and allowing them to navigate decision making processes while being tolerant of others and their needs is a crucial lesson.
