The beauty of teaching is welcoming a new incredible set of students into your classroom and heart every year. With each new group, the realization of why we are in the career becomes more and more clear. Their drive to learn in new and innovative ways pushes me to step outside my box and deliver a way to learn that fits each of their styles.
Students in this class are a diverse and powerful group made up of creative individuals, intellectuals, athletes, and dreamers.
They come to school with the ability to look at knowledge as an opportunity to better themselves and those around them. With inquiry and appropriate resources, they are able to navigate learning in a way that fits their needs best. Their passion is contagious.
In helping with needed computer resources, you are putting a direct hand in fueling their passions and supplying for their future. My students and I are forever grateful!
My Project
Technology, specifically Chromebooks, allow students to take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them. During the year, we strive to incorporate inquiry. This is also known as student driven learning. This allows students to take their interests and use them in connection to concepts taught in the classroom.
Making sure students have an input in their learning is an essential component in motivating them.
I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given opportunities to voice a choice in their education. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given an opportunity to engage in connecting their learning to topics of their interest.
The Chromebooks I have selected will be used as resources for the students to utilize for exploring and learning more about topics that they choose for their inquiry projects as well as in other areas. The Chromebooks will also be used as differentiation tools for the students in my class that benefit from technological tools in their learning.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students' work and demeanor and hope that by providing additional resources my students will continue to grow and their thirst for knowledge will expand in and outside of the classroom!
