Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A classroom should not only be a place to learn, but also a place where children feel safe and appreciated. My classroom provides that for my students. My goal is for ALL of my students to be able to read and write full sentences by the end of this school year.
My students are special needs children.
They also come from economically disadvantaged homes where they are not able to get the help they need or any extra-curricula activities. My students are happy kids, despite their parents economical struggles. Our school is a community school, where we provide free breakfast and lunch for our students. The strong sense of community is amazing, yet there is so much more that can be done.
My Project
I love teaching through hands-on activities. My students will benefit tremendously by having building bricks in the classroom, where their imaginations can go wild. I want to encourage my students to dream big. These blocks will encourage many to become engineers as well as help others develop their imaginations. I like to run science, math, and social studies groups where kids can build their own structure to help them understand the concept of creating new things or old architecture buildings like Spanish missons or Medieval century castles. The scissors will help those kids with artistic talent to become more creative and those with occupational therapy to use their cutting skills.
This project will help my students become more aware of the world around them by building communities with building blocks to understand more of the world.
I feel that since my students come from disadvantage families who cannot afford summer camps or tutoring to grasp the concept of science and other subjects in a creative way, this project will be perfect for my SDC (Special Day Class) students. It will also open up their creativity and doors to the world of engineering. Thank you so much!
