I need these professional development books to help better myself for my students. I have watched numerous videos and read many reviews on these practices that I wish to start using as well.
I currently work in a very culturally diverse school. My school has an ELL population of 35% and my current classroom is 66% English Language Learners (ELL). My school is also considered to be low in the economic area. We have many students who receive both free/reduced lunches; as well as “backpacks” with food for their families for the weekend. Our growing school also means growing class sizes. To meet the many needs of my students I must stay updated on best teaching practices and be able to implement them into my classroom.
My Project
These textbooks will help teach me how to bring more to my students every day. The "Number Talk" book will guide me in helping my students think deeper about number sense; as well as, collaborate together as a class.
The "Wild Card" book is from a popular teaching conference that I would love to go to, but unfortunately, do not have the resources; therefore, I feel that reading this book is the next best thing.
I hope that it will help fan the flames for my passion in education.
The guided reading book has come recommended by many of my other teaching friends to help me continue to grow in the area of teaching I feel I struggle with the most.
