Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are K-8 students from an urban district. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is served in the classroom and students do not switch classrooms much at the younger grades. Most of my students are from Spanish speaking households.
My students need to be active and moving while learning.
They love working with technology. Students come to me when they cannot figure out what to do on the computer, but I also go to them when I cannot figure out today's latest technology. I love being able to provide technology integration to a 1 to 1 school, giving students a different idea of how technology is actually replacing the pen and paper.
My Project
This year our curriculum is code heavy and I feel like I am behind in learning about the code.
Every child should learn how to code, it is the new second language for students.
I am requesting an iPad pro and accessories so I can learn how to code using TinkerCad, Scratch and Scratch Jr. at home. Having the iPad will also allow me to save projects I'm working on while I teach and then go back to those projects during the short breaks that I have. These materials will also allow me to make videos and tutorials for my students by being able to screenshot on the iPad and draw with the pen. This iPad serves as an additional purpose- to be able to mirror what I want my students to do in our classroom by hooking the iPad up to a projector. This iPad and case will allow me to do my work without having to stop and hand the device I'm using over to a child.
