In a world where we are going "digital" I have met the greatest group of students who love anything "old school", like a book in their hand, chess, board games and anything classic.
I visit with students about bestseller lists and we review books together in the newspaper.
Their feedback is imperative.
I take my job seriously to promote libraries and a love for a book. We have had debates on the internet vs. libraries, and I have shown them books from the 1800's as antiques. We have also discussed bookstores around the world through slide shows, as part of the curriculum is to have a world view.
We have a brand new library, and we have to acquire books slowly but surely and with great thought. Complete sets of popular works are the name of the game.
Teaching the love of a library book is easy with the Netflix tie ins.
These students also come to the library at lunch for Books, Vinyl Records and Board Games. They have great "old souls" and love to come in and play chess and listen to Beatles music on vinyl while they play.
Students have been consulted about what they want to read and these are a few of the series books I am choosing right now.
