Teaching the 21st Century Learner
My students need a laptop computer in order to build powerful computer skills that are necessary for success in today's world.
Technology permeates all part of our lives, and most certainly in the workplace. In order to prepare my students for future grades, college and their careers, we need a computer. Many of my students live below the poverty line and they do not have access to computers at home. Please help us!
My students are an awesome group of curious learners.
They jump on every opportunity to learn. Whenever technology is used, they are instantly engaged and excited about what we are learning. Many of my students do not have access to computers at home and have never used one! Our school is a Title 1 campus; with over 70% of students on free or reduced lunches. Many of my students are classified as at-risk. Our school population is mostly Hispanic. I have many ESL students in my class. My classroom also has students with learning disabilities, including dyslexia, dysgraphia and ADHD.
People all over the world use computers for their careers, for school and also for pleasure. This Dell laptop computer will give my students access to a computer and will allow them to become computer literate! I will be able to teach them research and word processing skills, including typing. They will be able to retrieve information from the Internet and create multimedia projects to share their information. Using e-mail and blogging, my students will be able to share their ideas with others and connect with students and people all over the world! Additionally, there are an incredible amount of fun, interactive educational games available for free on the internet. Students will be able to practice a variety of skills on these websites. Learning on the computer will be so entertaining, they'll forget that they're learning!
Your donation to my classroom's project will give my students the opportunity to learn in a way that cannot be achieved without a computer.
I believe every child deserves to be given the opportunity to succeed. Learning these valuable computer skills will help my children be more successful, now and in the future.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
