Help me give my students new toothbrushes and toothpaste so that they are able to practice dental health.
I teach first grade at a Title I School in the inner city. Our school population is changing this year due to redistricting. Due to the redistricting, our population of students will be 95% Latin American.
My students are inquisitive and enjoy learning!
They do have a lot to learn, however, as they are learning two languages, one in the classroom and one at home. I want to make sure that I am doing the best I can to teach them while they are with me during the day.
My first graders are learning all about their teeth this year. A lot of them are losing their first baby tooth right now. They are also learning the importance of brushing their teeth so that they do not get cavities.
February is Dental Health month and we always have a Dental Hygienist come to talk to the first grade about keeping their teach healthy.
The Dental Hygienist used to bring toothpaste and toothbrushes for the students, but for the last several years she has not had the funding for it.
I am hoping that we can give each of our students a toothbrush and toothpaste to take home on the day the Dental Hygienist comes to talk to our first grade students about the importance of keeping their teeth healthy.
