My students are from an urban school in Bronx, New York. They are a diverse group of students with many different abilities. All of them are emergent bilinguals hailing mainly from the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Latin American countries and West Africa. Some students have just recently arrived to the country while other students were born in the United States.
They are learning to embrace and value their multilingual identity, which is an asset in the 21st-century global economy.
I teach English Language Learners who needs to collaborate with their peers on a daily bases, hence it is essential that they have access to furniture that promote collaborative learning.
Please help me fund two conference tables for my classroom.
I believe the conference tables will provide students a stable location to do their work and social as well. In an English as a new language classroom, it is imperative that students talk, what better way to do that then sitting in a group.
In addition, I want to teach my students how people in the real world work, this would be a great opportunity to do that.
