"Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful." Mary Shelley, Frankenstein. I am a Special Education teacher in a large, urban school district. I can tell you that it takes a whole lot of fearless to be a student with a learning disability.
My students are amazing individuals.
They come to school every day knowing that they don't necessarily learn like everyone else, but they put their heart and soul into everything they do. I always tell them that if they are willing to put in the effort, I will make sure that they get everything they need out of their education, and hopefully more. I want my students to learn that hard work is it's own reward, and that a good attitude can get you almost anywhere you want to go.
My Project
My students will be able to use the iPad Air to practice their phonics, read books, and to play math games in order to sharpen their problem solving skills. They will use the iPad Air to view videos to teach them social skills, to record and edit their own presentations, and to work one on one with a teacher that really cares about them as individuals.
Having access to this iPad Air will allow me to bring technology to my students in their classrooms, instead of having to pull them out to my classroom.
It will allow me to customize and individualize their instruction so that they are receiving an optimal education, not just an adequate one.
