Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have twenty-five first graders who are eager to learn. They love to come to school and the school year requires several supplies that will be used. Our school is a Title I elementary school in the California Bay Area. Supplies are in constant need to be replenished and donations from families are limited.
Children thrive with hands-on learning.
All of our students love to learn and I make it my goal to help them absolutely love coming to school each and every day.
My Project
Students needs ways to be engaged and develop a love of learning.
TIME magazine and Mystery Doug would give our students fun and engaging ways to learn science through literacy!
My students currently use Mystery Doug to learn about various science concepts. After watching the "mysteries", students discuss what they have learned and write about their findings in their writing journals. Our subscription is about to expire, and our students want and NEED to continue to learn about new "mysteries".
The TIME magazine would be a wonderful addition to our classroom. Students would be able to use the materials during literacy centers and read about new science/social studies concepts.
