My students need a Microsoft Surface Tablet to explore science using technology.
The new next generation science standards focus on standards in engineering and technology to help prepare today's students to be successful in a global economy. Without the availability of technological resources, our students will fall behind.
I enjoy spending my days with an extremely curious group of 6th and 7th grade students.
These middle school students love to explore the many wonders of science. They respond very well to the inclusion of new technologies in their science discoveries.
Technology in the classroom opens so many doors. It will allow my students the opportunity to research past historical science discoveries, as well as current discoveries that may affect their lives in the present and future. In addition, students will have access to ExploreLearning Gizmos, scientific simulations for middle school students. They will have immediate access to Edmodo, a website for student learning. This added technology to will also give students the opportunity use technology when completing group work. Finally, the Surface Tablet will allow me the opportunity to differentiate my instruction in the classroom. For example, our school currently has a subscription with BrainPop. I plan to use this site on the Surface Tablet to give students extra practice of science vocabulary.
With the implementation of Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards, it has become more important for students to use technology.
Having technology in the science classroom will help students develop important research, reading, and writing skills.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
