Our school is mostly made up of students who are living in poverty. They are wonderful children who need opportunities to see themselves as bright capable people. Many of our students do not see themselves in a position to have future careers or become professionals. As a school we try many things to empower these young learners to see themselves as important and to see their own potential. Our students are in need of continuous reminders of how awesome they are.
My Project
My student's need experiences to show pride in their environment and their learning materials. Providing them with containers and bins to safely and neatly keep their learning tools will help them do this. My student's flourish in an environment that is organized and promotes routine and structure. The materials I have requested will allow the students to be able to easily access manipulatives and learning materials. I will add colorful labels to each bin to make cleaning up after themselves easy. Learning the skills of being responsible and organized is something that should begin early and I believe these requested items will help that.
