Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Children love to read stories about science and social studies. Struggling readers need motivation and encouragement to keep reading. Using science and social studies themes encourage students to want to read. I teacher a second grade inclusion class with struggling readers. It is important to help my students learn how to gather content area information and comprehend what they read. I would like for my classroom room to have microscopes, globes, posters, resource books, and maps to help enrich the science and social studies lessons. These materials help promote content area themes and encourage students to discover science and social studies. An environment that is rich with visual aids promotes an interest in science and social studies as well as encourage students to become life long readers.
