Teaching Math to Those Who Need a Little Extra

My Students

I am a special educator, so all of my students need extra support. They love to learn through exploring in math. They like to work in partners as well. These students learn math in small group settings with 4 to 6 in a group.

My Project

I work with students who receive special education services in math. I am always looking for ways to help my students stay engaged in the lessons. The students enjoy writing on whiteboards, and these whiteboards provide them with resources to help solve the problems. The activities will help my students to problem solve and think mathematically. The rekenreks help my students to build amounts through addition and subtraction. Many of the ones I have been using are falling apart. Having these materials available will ensure that my students enjoy learning math and want to come to group.
