Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Did you ever struggle to see what the teacher wrote on the whiteboard, or wish you sat up in the front in order to read what was written? A large sized whiteboard will help my students see all of their math problems in a clear and organized manner.
I teach 1st grade in a very impoverished elementary school.
Eighty-five percent of my students receive free or reduced cost lunch and 90% of my students are English language learners. They are amazing kids that have been given a hard start to their educational career. I know that if given the opportunity these students could do whatever they want!.
Even though my students live in a community where making it through the eighth grade is an accomplishment, they all have a goal of making it to college. This project will help my students get one step closer to fulfilling their dreams of higher education.
My Project
The resources I need are very simple. I need a new whiteboard so I can put math problems up on the wall. In our class we are very limited with space, and this board will provide the necessary location to put up the program. This board will allow me to post math problems that cover every 1st grade standard all at once!
We are struggling to raise our math scores and I know that this project will help them achieve the math level they must reach for success.
I do understand that we are only in 1st grade and most of my students are only six years old. However, I also know if I can get them to love math now, it will carry that over into later grades!
Your help will make it possible for my amazing students to exceed any and all expectations that have been set for them! Please help break through the glass ceiling!
