My school is a grade 6-12 in-district charter school. We have some of the best students enrolled in our school. This is a school that students enjoy being a part of and parents are proud to send their students to.
We are a smaller school, serving just over 500 students.
Our students come from various socioeconomic levels and backgrounds. This year, I will focus on teaching newcomers and levels 1/2 English as a second language class. It is very important that these students have structure and learn routines. My students are mainly Spanish speaking, followed by Portuguese.
My Project
I am asking for a computer that I can use at home to create and share my lessons on. I am currently using the computer that is issued by the district and is borrowed only. It would be nice to have a computer that I can use to work from home on. With everything being online now, it would be great to have a device with updated storage capacity and one I can connect to other monitors in the office while I am teaching remotely. By having a new computer, I can use both computers to most effectively teach. I can hold my Zoom class on one and the other would be used to create and share materials for the class.
I will specifically use the materials to create and deliver lessons for all of my classes.
In today's world of teaching, everything is created and delivered using a computer. All of the students and teachers need to have personal devices in order to engage with remote learning. This new computer will allow me to create materials and lessons for the students that will be used now and in the future. In addition, I will use it to support other teachers who share the students I see. I will assist with finding materials and digitally modifying their materials for ESL students.
