This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello! I am a kindergarten teacher in a special education classroom at a Title 1 School. In the classroom, my students require hands-on learning, which I am unable to provide to them during the coronavirus pandemic. I have provided many online resources, but my students may not always be able to access these on their own, and may not have the opportunity or resources to do so at home.
With this project, I am hoping to put together a care package for each student filled with supplies, books, games and activities that they could use at home.
These activities would be similar to what they are used to doing in the classroom. I am also looking for more books that I can use at home to read stories to my students each week during our classroom video chats.
I work with an amazing group of students, and I would love to help them to continue to succeed from home!
My Project
These materials will help my students to continue working and learning from home. I have selected tools and activities that students are comfortable using each day in our classroom. These materials will be used to create an at-home learning experience using items that students are familiar with.
I miss my students more than anything, and am so excited to be able to send a care package to let them know that they are so loved.
I have been using online resources to provide students with read-aloud opportunities through online video calls and pre-recorded videos. This project will help to provide students with their own copy of books to follow along as I read. There are also many materials for hands-on learning and fine-motor skill building, which I am unable to provide through online learning.
My students will be thrilled to receive care packages with some familiar activities that they can work on from home!
