My students need Chromebooks to take their learning to the next level while teaching them important 21st century skills as well as digital citizenship morals.
My students are fourth graders who are very enthusiastic learners! I have 22 students who are all hardworking, passionate, respectful and responsible. We work as a team to accomplish our learning expectations while having fun in the classroom.
Our school district provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment for students to thrive in.
As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in the district every year.
My students are growing and learning in a wonderful community that supports their education, and my job is to make sure their learning experience is a positive one. I want to help my students be the best they can be while preparing them for a successful future.
My Project
I am proud to teach my fourth graders in a blended learning classroom meaning I use traditional teaching strategies blended with new technologies. Over the past two years, I've completed training through my district on blended learning, and I completed my Master's degree which focused on digital media in the classroom. The training and classes have opened my eyes to the importance of implementing technology into the classroom while using old school teaching pedagogy.
It is amazing how my students are so engaged and motivated when technology is involved!
Having 3 more Chromebooks in our classroom will help my students tremendously and in so many ways.
With technology being so prevalent now, the importance of teaching 21st century skills and digital citizenship to elementary school students is even greater than it was in the past. In class, we use our Chromebooks for content-based assignments and projects, but we also spend a lot of time learning about digital citizenship.
Technology is now a part of everyday life, and learning how to use it the right way and make good choices is something that I teach to ensure my students are prepared for their future which will most likely use tech in some way.
With the few Chromebooks I have in my classroom, I've been able to introduce students to digital tools that have supplemented our curriculum while making learning fun. My students have really impressed me over the years with what they are able to do with Chromebooks. For example, my students have created instructional videos about our math topics, designed digital Public Service Announcement posters, designed their own "Google" logo using coding skills, and the list could go on and on! Adding 3 more Chromebooks to our classroom will create more opportunities for beneficial and lifelong learning experiences!
