This year our school is on a mission to protect our Earth. It is shocking to our students, the number of plastic bottles are thrown away each day at our school. A water bottle refilling stations will allow us to reduce, re-use, and recycle our water bottles and do our part as environmentalists.
I teach in an unincorporated suburb of Chicago, in a school with students from kindergarten through sixth grade.
We currently have 325 students in our school. We are in a very mobile district, where children are constantly coming and going. The students are eager to help our environment in any way they can, but we would like to start to make a difference by using water bottle refilling stations.
My Project
As part of our school wide goal this year, the students in our school would benefit from water bottle refilling stations to do our part to save the environment! These water bottle refilling stations, would replace our current unfiltered water fountains. All of the students will be able to bring a water bottle from home to keep in the class room or take outside with them and refill it when they need to. This project will reinforce the lessons being taught throughout the school about protecting our environment (and ourselves by staying hydrated). Teaching students the importance of protecting the environment at such a young age with help them understand that every little action helps the larger environment.
We only have one Earth, each person needs to help make a difference to protect it!
What better lesson for students than to know that they truly can make a difference!
