Hooray! This project is fully funded

The RISE Learning Center is a public alternative school for students with special needs that serves students between the ages of five and twenty-two years old. Here at the RISE Learning Center we have an award winning recycling program run totally by our students. Our students recycle many different items throughout the school year. Recyclable items include office papers, newspapers, catalogs, aluminum cans, empty printer cartridges, laser printer cartridges, plastic bags, and cell phones. Our older students have the responsibility of emptying the paper recycling boxes in each classroom and in the RISE Special Services area each week. At this time, any aluminum cans the classrooms have accumulated are picked up, crushed, and stored for recycling purposes. The tabs are collected and taken to McDonald's in support of the Ronald McDonald House. In an attempt to increase the recycling efforts throughout the school, we are asking for donations to help fund the purchase of small recycling containers for aluminum cans and plastic bottles in each classroom and the school's gymnasium. It is the program's goal that students learn job skills, increase self-esteem, and learn responsibility. This program will directly impact the sixty older students in the school that empty the recycling bins and will indirectly impact the two hundred students going to school at the RISE Learning Center.
