I need to attend the Teach Your Heart Out Conference in June 2019.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Why is our classroom special? It is because of the students I teach! Twenty-six eight and nine year old children eager to learn and enter the classroom each day. I wake up each day to brighten someone else's day as we are a caring classroom family. Students can be seen collaborating throughout the room or reading silently. Students have options to choose where they learn best. I am blessed to have these children in my life! I hope that I can make a difference in theirs.
As I end my school year in June 2019 it will be a time to reflect, refresh and prepare for the 2019-2020 school year. However, I have BIG PLANS to learn innovative strategies by attending the Teach Your Heart Out Conference setting sail on June 21, 2019 for four days and three nights!
During this conference I will spend days full of professional development as well as visit the Sandilands Primary School in the Bahamas, where we will grow in our learning of teaching to diversity.
We will be able to adapt our lessons back at home to reflect ESL students through strategies that we will be learning here. During the full day PD, we will be learning ways to incorporate literacy into classroom communities to create safe and comfortable environments where literacy teaches the foundations of school community and culture. Throughout these days I will be learning and growing in ways that will enhance the learning experience for my students. I will be trained on techniques that prepare me for meaningful, motivating and cutting edge strategies that will allow for creative learning within my classroom. Through this Professional Development, I will be better prepared for promoting community and making connections with my students. I will learn about student led lessons, collaboration and innovative play for my third grade students. In addition, I will walk away refreshed, excited and inspired to start the new school year in September, 2019- and it will only be June! This will allow me ample time for planning and preparing to bring these strategies into my new classroom.
